Australian journalist Edwina Bartholomew has reacted to the cancellation of former Wallaby Israel Folau’s GoFundMe campaign.
The disgraced rugby player – who started the initiative to cover mounting legal costs in the wake of his high-profile sacking over anti-gay social media posts – had his donation page sensationally pulled following a large-scale public backlash.

The sacked sports star had received more than $750,000 in donations before the campaign was removed, prompted by a deluge of complaints that his cause was in breach of GoFundMe’s terms of service.
Channel 7 host Edwina took to Instagram to share her support of GoFundMe’s decision and raise awareness about an alternative worthy cause.
“Credit to @gofundmefor cancelling Israel Folau’s fundraising page,” the Sunrise presenter wrote.
“If you donated and are now getting your money back, you might consider redirecting those funds to @rundipg to help find a cure for brain cancer.

The post quickly racked up over 2,000 likes from fans, with many jumping to Fans jumped to the comments section to agree with Edwina.
One woman called it “the best news today”, while others praised the presenter for drawing attention to truly worthy charities.
Model Jesinta Franklin also agreed, writing: “Thank goodness. I was hoping they were going to step in.”
