Michelle and Commando’s departure from The Biggest Loser ended up being a blessing for the pair – with surviving Loser fitness guru Shannon Ponton left to deal with some seriously humiliating news today.
The Biggest Loser – once a major ratings hit – is to be dumped into an afternoon time slot, after atrocious ratings in prime time. The show is now certain to be axed after the current series has finished airing.
Ten program chief Beverley McGarvey admitted to news.com.au that the network was ‘disappointed’ over the failure of the show.
‘It really hasn’t resonated with audiences the way we had hoped,’ she said.
‘It is a very competitive time of year. There are two very established shows on [My Kitchen Rules and Married at First Sight] that are creating a lot of noise.
‘We hoped it would do a lot better but it simply hasn’t. We think we’ve given it as long as we possibly can. It will move to daytime from Monday.’
The show, which was once the talk of the county, will now go up against such fare as Channel 7’s midday movie and Extra on Nine.
Michelle and Commando have yet to comment!
