Not many little girls can say they had slayed a red-carpet look before they’ve even finished kindie – but then, most little girls’ mums aren’t Beyonce.
The singer took daughter Blue Ivy to the MTV VMAs as her date. The little one drew gasps in her princess-like tulle gown, and, much like her famous mum, she seemed to relish being the centre of attention. After all, it’s not often that Queen Bey -resplendent herself in sequins and feathers – is outshone by anyone, let alone a four-year-old.
Blue wasn’t Lemonade star Beyonce’s only surprise of the evening. As America’s gun laws and escalating tension between the black community and police escalate, the singer invited the mothers of the two boys killed by police Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, Sybrina Fulton and Lesley McFadden respectively, to join her in front of the cameras.
With America’s election mere months away, viewers can no doubt expect plenty more celebrities to get their political messages across as the night goes on.
