Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell have posted a startling Instagram image to celebrate their engagement – a three-way hand clasp with a large, saltwater crocodile.

The image highlights the engagement ring Bindi received on her 21st birthday from fiancé Chandler, and was accompanied by an emotional caption.
‘Beginning our life together, saving wildlife and wild places,’ gushed Bindi.
‘We will always honour Dad’s legacy and continue his mission, especially his passion for protecting beautiful saltwater crocodiles. ❤️ #CrocTrip2019#SteveIrwinWildlifeReserve’
Wrote Chandler in the comments section: ‘Here’s to a lifetime of creating positive change together❤️🐊’
The image received a rave reception from many of the Irwin family’s devoted fans – who have labelled it ‘beautiful’ and ‘moving’ – but some others found it less charming.
‘Someone needs some moisturiser,’ wrote one fan of the croc’s scaly skin, which is viscerally contrasted with Bindi’s soft, pink hand.
Another simply wrote, ‘i mean. Guhhhh.’
Added another fan, who was clearly taken aback by the young couple’s exciting but risky lifestyle: ‘I wouldn’t be able to do the things you guys do – there is a lot of dangerous going on around you all with lions, crocodiles, killer snake and spiders and on and on, and on is too much for me.’
After Bindi, 21, and Chandler, 22, announced their engagement, the young wildlife warrior confirmed she is planning her dream wedding at Australia Zoo, complete with koalas.
New Idea spoke to Sunshine Coast wedding planner Trudy Croad, owner of Lovebird Weddings, who gives exclusive behind-the-scene details of a beautiful but ecological ceremony at Queensland’s Australia Zoo.
‘I know they are not going to want to close that park until 5pm that evening. I am imagining they’d want to go for a summer wedding – not December or January due to other commitments, I’m thinking a November wedding,’
Trudy says.
‘They could do a sunset ceremony. They’ve got a beautiful elephant enclosure called Elephantasia. It’s got an amazing waterfall which would make a really stunning ceremony backdrop.’
