Cuddling his baby girl, Adam Dovile still can’t quite fathom the landmark week that changed his life.
In less than seven days, the popular Better Homes And Gardens builder not only became a first-time dad, but he also won a Silver Logie for Best New Talent.
‘It was just crazy, unbelievable,’ laughs Adam, 33, in disbelief.
‘A baby and a Logie in the same week. Amazing! You couldn’t script a story like this. It’s absolutely remarkable,’ he adds.
It’s been a wild ride ever since Adam and his beautiful blonde partner Lisa Lamond – now his wife – nailed first place on season two of House Rules in 2014.
But precious little Arabella Jacqueline Dovile – who entered the world five days late at 6.20am in early May, weighing 3.85kg and at 51cm long – was the greatest prize of all.
‘I’ve never seen Ad cry in seven years, but a few tears were shed that day,’ smiles Lisa, whose 20-hour labour culminated in a mad dash to Melbourne’s Mercy Hospital for Women only 40 minutes before Arabella arrived.
‘It’s beautiful to see him as a father, and he’s been supportive,’ Lisa says. ‘Both of us were pretty naive going into this, but the effect our little princess has on Ad is nothing short of amazing.
‘He loves his job, but he’s definitely going to struggle when he has to leave Arabella to fly off to work in Sydney.’
