“I know you mums are busy and you want to make a cake that looks like you’ve bought it from a bakery, but you don’t have the time or the money,” our New Idea Hacks queen Christine has expressed.

Everyone knows how delicious those Woolworths/Coles mud cakes are, but the don’t get much of a high-rating for their decorations. But who says we can’t improvise a little?

All you need is:

  • Two chocolate cakes
  • Instant chocolate icing
  • KitKats to go around the sides
  • M&Ms to go on top
  • A ribbon to go around the middle!

It’s absolutely genius, and whoever is behind the candles on this cake will be smiling from ear to ear!

All you have to do is get the cake(s), remove the icing it comes in and spread on the instant icing!

Grabbing the second cake, remove the icing again and pop it on top. Add more of the instant icing on top and around the entirety of both cakes.

The secret? “We’re going to cover it in KitKat and M&Ms.”
