And Network Ten has finally announced an official air date for The Bachelor 2019:

Wednesday, July 31 at 7.30pm.

Hailed as “intelligent, genuine and determined to find a love that’s out of this world”, 31-year-old Matt promised he’s ready and willing to put his heart on the line.

“I’m still pinching myself that this is happening. It may be an unorthodox way to meet someone, but it’ll make for a cracking ‘how we met’ story,” he said of joining the show.

“I’ve got a real ‘do it once, do it right’ mentality so I’ll be making sure I throw myself into it, be vulnerable and enjoy what comes from that.”

Network Ten executives called the Melbourne-based scientist a “breath of fresh air” with “spades of old school romance”, “natural charm” and a “definite twinkle in his eye”.

Matt’s female counterpart, The Bachelorette 2019 Angie Kent, spilled inside details of his romantic success on the red carpet of the 61st TV Week Logie Awards at the Star Gold Coast last month.

“Matt has found the love of his life, which I’m stoked for,” she told an Australian publication.

Fans of the popular reality TV franchise are sure to give Matt a warm welcome after last season’s disastrous run with Nick ‘The Honey’ Badger at its helm.

Undoubtedly the most academically qualified hopeful to join the Australian series, Matt holds a double undergraduate degree in science and engineering, as well as a Masters in astrophysics.

And if that wasn’t impressive enough, soon to be Dr Agnew is also a PhD candidate at Swinburne’s University of Technology where he works in the Centre of Astrophysics and Supercomputing, Who Magazine reveals.

Wow.
