In the four years since Meghan Markle made the big move from Toronto to be by Prince Harry’s side in London, she’s struggled to find a home that’s worked.

Not Kensington Palace, Frogmore Cottage or even Vancouver Island sufficed – and that was all before she moved out of her friend, actor Tyler Perry’s Hollywood home.
Now it seems Meghan is ready to trade in the $20 million Montecito mansion that she and Harry purchased just 19 months ago.
But true to form, Meghan has a plan. In a world exclusive, New Idea can reveal Meghan, 40, has informed Harry, 36, that she wants to sell up and build her own castle from the ground up. Of course, no expense will be spared!
“Harry was blindsided at her announcement,” says a source, who reveals the Duke of Sussex was finally feeling at home in Montecito.
“They have everything they could ever want on their estate, including a playground for the kids and a tennis court. He’s struggling to see why she’s unsatisfied.”
Harry is said to be scratching his head at his wife’s constant indecisiveness, which is causing tension between the pair, who have barely been in their home for two years.

However, Meghan is said to be unperturbed by Harry’s hesitation. Insiders confirm she is “actively looking for prime land” in both Los Angeles and the celebrity desert enclave of Palm Springs to raise Archie and Lilibet.
“She’s interested in the gated community of Hidden Hills in LA, which is super private and ultra-exclusive,” says a real estate insider.
“The lots alone sell for around $2 million. It’s no wonder the residents are rich and famous types like the Kardashians, who are looking for privacy on spectacular mountaintops, but within driving distance of Hollywood.”
New Idea has also learnt that Meghan made “discreet enquiries” about snapping up a vacant lot at Palm Springs’ Madison Club estates recently. The area boasts celebrities including Kris Jenner and Cindy Crawford, who own new builds ensconced within a designer golf course surrounded by high walls.
“She has a very grand vision and is laser-focused on the plans for this home,” tells a source, who says Meghan is determined to build “her very own Buckingham Palace” in California.
“Prices have gone up and up, so this is going to be costly,” warns the insider, who says playing ‘Keeping up with the Joneses’ in Tinseltown is never a good idea. “Time will tell on Meghan’s big plan.”
