Prince Charles wasn’t going to let a downpour rain on his parade, much to Duchess Camilla‘s disdain.
WATCH: Camilla laughs with Bear Grylls as she boards HMS Prince of Wales
The Duchess of Cornwall smiled through gritted teeth as she sought refuge under a tiny umbrella at the official Commissioning Ceremony of HMS Prince of Wales.
The new aircraft carrier – reportedly worth $5.8 billion – is named after her husband, so naturally she was in attendance.
In fact, she left her royal confines to act as Lady Sponsor at the Portsmouth, Hampshire event.
According to a Royal Navy spokesperson, Camilla is now the ‘godmother’ of the ship.
‘The role of the lady sponsor is akin to being a godmother, attending significant events during the life of the ship and taking an interest not only in the ship’s activities, but also the welfare of the ship’s company.’
Making the wet a tad bearable was Bear Grylls, who no doubt gave Camilla some wet weather survival tips.
