The 26-year-old confessed that her hearing was badly damaged after a motorbike accident four years ago.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, she said she now has to wear a hearing aid in her left ear, and also suffers from tinnitus.
“I had a motorbike accident when I was travelling to Indonesia, when I was 22. I was riding a road bike and hit a big pothole and flipped my bike,” Monique told the publication.
Monique shared that she underwent middle ear bone surgery following the accident, and now relies on a hearing aid in her left ear.
“I was hospitalised for two to three weeks as I had fractured my skull, and had to have an ossicular chain reconstruction,” she said.
“As a result of the accident, I have suffered from bad tinnitus [a ringing or buzzing sound in the ear] and now wear a hearing aid in my left ear,” she explained.
The reality TV contestant spoke out in support of The Shepherd Centre’s Loud Shirt Day to break the stigma around being deaf and to help deaf kids.
“I am thrilled to be an ambassador for The Shepherd Centre and help remove the stigma about wearing hearing aids,” she told Daily Mail Australia.
Monique, who joined The Bachelor as a show intruder, was infamously booted from the show for calling the astrophysicist a “dog c**t” behind his back.
Matt went on to chose Chelsie McLeod as his sweetheart after ditching Abbie Chatfield at the final rose ceremony.
However, Monique wasn’t left broken hearted and has since found love with someone else.
She has been flaunting her relationship with Sydney fitness trainer Cameron Bealey on her Instagram since the show wrapped.
