From professional performers to first-time stars, there was plenty of talent on display on the stage, with the impressive vocal displays, and allusive contestants’ clues helping viewers and guessing panel members alike clue into the secret celebrity identities of each mask.

Previous winners include Cody Simpson, Bonnie Anderson, Anastacia, and Melody Thornton, with Dami Im taking out the trophy for 2023.

Celebrity: Dami Im

The Snow Fox was described as a “global superstar” who “can really sing” – receiving high praise from The Masked Singer judge Mel B.

All season long, one name rose above the rest when it came to guessing who was hiding underneath the Snow Fox mask – Glee star and The Masked Singer US winner Amber Riley.

But it was X Factor 2013 winner and second place Eurovision star Dami Im who the contestant clues were hinting at all along!

“It feels amazing to be out, but also, it’s kind of really great because I actually won X Factor here on this same stage 10 years ago. Exactly 10 years ago. I’m back here winning this,” the 35-year-old share shortly after her onstage unmasking.

Celebrity: Darren Hayes

From the moment the first teaser trailers dropped, fans predicted that Savage Garden front-man Darren Hayes was the voice behind the mask.

“I’m 100% sure that’s his voice,” wrote one fan at the time, with another commenting that it was “obviously Darren Hayes.”

The clues all matched Darren too, with guessing panel member Abbie Chatfield ecstatic to see Darren standing before her on The Masked Singer stage in the finale.

“I cried the first time you cried. I was inside that mask on episode one and I started crying. And then everytime you cried, then I had to try and sin. And it’s really hard to sing and cry,” Darren said with a laugh as he interacted with an emotional Abbie after his unmasking.

Costume: Bouncer

Celebrity: Conrad Sewell

Following The Masked Singer’s video teasing the Bouncer character, fans took to the comment section to reveal they were convinced Conrad Sewell was behind the Bouncer.

“That’s Conrad Sewell! I can’t believe we’re all guessing before the premiere,” one wrote.

Another commented: “That has to be the steady hand of Conrad Sewell”.

“Ok if it’s not Conrad Sewell I’ll need to get my hearing checked lol,” a third wrote.

Eliminated contestant Summer Warne also confirmed to New Idea after her unmasking that she was “certain” Conrad was hopping around the stage under the guise of Bouncer.

Paired with all the contestant clues dropped throughout the season and Bouncer’s performances, fans remained convinced that Conrad was hiding underneath the mask – and they were proved correct!

“I just thought it would be a cool thing to experience not going out there and not everyone knowing it was me for a second,” Conrad shared of his decision to take part in the reality singing show.

Celebrity: Courtney Act/Shane Jenek

What an udder-ly legend-dairy reveal!

When this world-famous entertainer was finally unmasked an episode before the finale, fans weren’t surprised.

Earlier contestant clues hinted at the secret celebrity being neighbourly, from country roots, and a queen – the most obvious clues referencing a guy winning a singing competition and her life being an “act.”

Whilst all signs pointed to Courtney, only guessing panel member Chrissie Swan correctly guessed Cowgirl’s real identity.

Taking to her Instagram, Courtney reflected upon her The Masked Singer experience.

“You can’t just explain @themaskedsingerau, you just have to let go, watch it, and enjoy,” she joked.

Celebrity: Brendan Fevola

Whilst this AFL legend turned radio host had hinted at his upcoming appearance on The Masked Singer earlier this year, fans were still left stunned to see the 42-year-old unmasked on the reality singing show stage.

As quickly as he sailed into the competition, this charter docked up for good – his vocals no match for the likes of Snow Fox, Cowgirl, Grim Reaper, and Bouncer.

Despite this, his rendition of DJ Otzi party-starter Hey Baby certainly got the in-studio audience and guessing panel whipped into a frenzy.

“I’m guessed every year. My Instagram and Twitter go nuts, saying this is 100 percent you, so I thought I’d finally come in as a wildcard, a firecracker, and bring the party!” he shared shortly after being unmasked.

Celebrity: Amy Sheppard

Five episodes in, Channel Ten revealed a new mask would be joining the singing competition.

Sadly, however, after three powerhouse performances, the studio audience was desperate to see Orca unmasked, reveling none other than Sheppard band member Amy Sheppard hiding underneath.

Prior to her surprising unmasking, the guessing panel had predicted that Jewel, Amy Shark, Vanessa Amorosi, Olympia Valance, Toni Childs, Bic Runga, Natalie Imbruglia, and Sheryl Crow could be hiding underneath the whale of a mask.

But they were all wrong!

Taking to her Instagram shortly after her unmasking was aired, Amy happily reflected upon her The Masked Singer experience.

“It was one of the most exciting experiences of my career and now the secret is out!” she penned.

“I’ve loved performing as Orca and joining the global Masked Singer family. Hope you loved it too!”

Pop music royalty La Toya Jackson was Burger Gal (Credit: Channel Ten)

Costume: Burger Gal

Celebrity: La Toya Jackson

In a hilarious twist of irony, it was vegetarian popstar La Toya Jackson who was revealed to be hiding underneath this Burger Gal mask in episode seven of The Masked Singer Australia for 2023.

The 67-year-old flew relatively under the radar with her performance of Doja Cat and SZA’s number one hit Kiss Me More – that is until Spice Girl Mel B accurately guessed that La Toya was providing Burger Gal’s powerhouse vocals from underneath the mask.

“I love this show. I will go anywhere to do this show. This is my third [time] actually,” La Toya revealed shortly after her unmasking, referring to her appearances on both the US and Spanish series.

According to the 67-year-old, not even her famous family knew about her top-secret appearance.

“They don’t know. I didn’t tell anyone; my mother doesn’t even know! We were all on a family conference yesterday, they said ‘What are you doing in Australia?’ I said ‘Just work, just having fun…'”

Best selling Aussie artist Pete Murray was Tiny. (Credit: Channel Ten)

Costume: Tiny

Celebrity: Pete Murray

This cuddly crooner was unmasked as none other than singer-songwriter Pete Murray, who had Australia wrapped around his cute claws all season long!

The unmasking of the 54-year-old was the first time in the season where a guessing panel member – which in this case was Chrissie Swan – correctly predicted which celebrity was hiding underneath the mask!

“I had SO much fun being #tiny on @themaskedsingerau,” Pete shared to his Instagram account shortly after his on screen unmasking.

“What a crazy ride that show is! Thanks for playing along Australia and thanks to @abbiechatfield @officialmelb @dhughesy @chrissieswan.”

Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby was Space Fairy (Credit: Channel Ten)

Costume: Space Fairy

Celebrity: Charlotte Crosby

The guessing panel and viewers tuning in from home were certain that the celebrity hiding underneath the Space Fairy mask was a professional singer – Dave Hughes even described the powerhouse vocalist as “one of the best” to ever take to The Masked Singer stage.

So imagine Australia’s surprise when none other than Charlotte Crosby was unmasked, the reality television fan favourite shocked that fans thought her singing rivaled that of professional singers like Tones and I, Gabrielle Cilmi, and Jessica Mauboy.

“You’re telling me you think I was that good? I’ve never sung in front of anyone in my life!” she said to a shocked audience as she breathed a sigh of relief as the heavy Space Fairy head was removed from her shoulders.

Charlotte’s inclusion on the show didn’t come as a huge surprise after she was spotted in Sydney earlier this year while The Masked Singer was filming.

On top of this, Charlotte dramatically scaled back her activity on social media in the month of June, presumably to hide her trip down under, to avoid ruining the surprise for fans of The Masked Singer.

In 2022, Charlotte herself confirmed she would be keen to make another appearance on an Aussie reality show sometime soon.

“I would definitely do another show in Australia it just depends on what type,” the Geordie told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“And especially when I’ve got a little girl, I don’t want to be leaving her for too long and I don’t want to do a show where I physically have to give my phone over and I can’t have any contact with her.”

“I’ll do shows but they have to be a certain type.”

Celebrity: Shaynna Blaze

From the get-go, fans were convinced that X Factor Australia 2013 winner Dami Im was Bluebottle, but when the mask came off in episode three, audience members and viewers alike were left stunned to see The Block judge Shaynna Blaze.

According to the 60-year-old, she kept her appearance on the reality show secret from not just the public, but also from her family and friends.

“This was one of the hardest things to keep quiet about,” Shaynna shared on her Instagram the morning after her unmasking.

“I wanted to do this show for the fun, for the reveal, and for the joy of singing incognito,” she added.

Celebrity: Summer Warne

Who knew the youngest daughter of the late cricketing great Shane Warne could sing?

When 21-year-old Summer took to The Masked Singer Australia stage with an emotional rendition of Yellow by Coldplay, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

According to the star, she sang the song for her late dad: “[I know] dad would have loved it,” she told us the morning after her onscreen unmasking.

Costume: Fawn

Celebrity: Sandra Sully

Radio host Jackie O was at the top of everyone’s minds when the teaser trailer for Fawn’s performance of Don’t Cha by the Pussycat Dolls first dropped.

In fact, the official The Masked Singer Instagram account even hinted that the 48-year-old was hiding behind the mask.

“Could Fawn REALLY be Jackie O?” they wrote.

But when Fawn was finally unmasked it wasn’t Jackie O but Channel Ten newsreader Sandra Sully hiding underneath!

Celebrity: Brian Austin Green

In the first unmasking of the season, it was revealed that Beverly Hills 90210 star Brian Austin Green was secretly the Crash Test Dummy!

Despite being the first celebrity to be eliminated, Brian tells New Idea that he still feels like he “won” season five of the hit reality show.

“I did one song, nobody guessed me and I was out….winner! That’s the point of the show, right? To not be guessed,?” Brian laughs.
