Married At First Sight’s Tracey Jewel has opened up about surviving an abusive relationship, and is now turning the horrifying experience into a positive.
The reality star will be a keynote speaker at High Tea With Friends, an event which helps raise awareness for domestic and family violence.
‘I am a survivor of domestic violence,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘I want to share my story to help others who are in the same position I once was.’
‘I want to stop the hurt, pain and loneliness that comes from domestic violence, because one in three women will be a victim of violence during their lifetime.’
The mother-of-one previously revealed in her book, Don’t Mess With The Goddess: The New Rules Of Consciousness For The Millenial Woman, the terrifying ordeal.
‘I was scared. I was bruised. I was isolated,’ she wrote. ‘Abuse never goes away. An abuser will never change, even though he may lie dormant like a volcano for a while, let me tell you, a situation, a word, an action will erupt him again. It’s only a matter of time.’
By sharing her own experiences, Tracey hopes to help victims of domestic violence realise it’s OK to seek help.
In addition, Jewel will donate 50 cents from every sale of her book to the Patricia Giles Centre, an organisation which supports women and children survivors of domestic violence.
