Married at First Sight stars Jessika Power and Ines Basic have spoken out about the show that made them famous, saying “it isn’t real”.

Jess, 27, told lads mag Maxim Australia that viewers shouldn’t believe everything they see on TV.

“The public think it’s gospel and everything that happens on the show is real,” Jessika said.

“It isn’t real life, it’s TV,” she added.

While Ines, 29, said she was a reality TV novice before the show.

“I don’t watch reality TV so I never knew much about it, but you may as well be contracted as an actor.”

And their comments are sure to hit a raw nerve with some of the show’s ex contestants.

Back in March, the Daily Mail exposed that half of this year’s contestants on the hit show were paid actors

According to the report, Susie Bradley, Billy Vincent and Tamara Joy were amongst the “performers” paid by the Nine Network.

Despite being dubbed a ‘barista’ on the show, Billy is a model and part-time actor, who recently played the lead in a McDonald’s advert.

Billy’s ‘wife’ Susie Bradley also appeared in a commercial for fitness company, Peptides Direct.

Tamara Joy has a StarNow profile, listing herself as an ‘actor, extra and model’.

And it was reported that Dino Hira is no stranger to the big screen, with several appearances in various productions – as well as staring in an ad campaign with Jessika!

Dino’s now ‘ex-wife’ Melissa Lucarelli also appeared as an extra on Home and Away, along with show villain Sam Ball, who starred as a ‘river boy’ on the iconic Aussie show.

An Endemol Shine Australia spokesperson, who produce MAFS, denied any of the stars were actors.

“This is categorically untrue, none of the MAFS participants are actors,” they told Daily Mail at the time.
