I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here! star Jacqui Lambie has been rushed to hospital after sustaining a horrible head injury during a Tucker Trial gone wrong on set in the South African jungle.
The Tasmania-born senator showed off her competitive streak alongside jungle mate Justin Lacko by winning the latest challenge, but seconds after their victory things took a turn when Justin noticed Jacqui’s forehead was bleeding.
After being assessed by a camp medic, 47-year-old Jacqui was rushed to a nearby hospital for an emergency CT scan.
The spoils of victory were short lived for the political stalwart with Justin calling for medical attention seconds after being crowned the winners.
‘You’ve hurt yourself, can we get a medic in here…she’s bleeding on her forehead, can we get a medic I’m dead serious,’ he said.
An on-site doctor checked her vision and questioned how she had sustained the injury, with Jacqui replying: ‘When the ball went over my head.’
As her head began to swell, camp medics grew concerned about an underlying issue and Jacqui was rushed to hospital for an MRI and further tests.
Thankfully, the scan showed no signs of skull fracture and Jacqui was cleared to return to camp.
And while her cast mate’s fretted about the ordeal, Jacqui proved her resilience by laughing off the incident despite significant bruising across her face and eyes.
When quizzed by I’m A Celeb host Dr. Chris Brown about her injuries, Jacqui poked fun at her co-stars concern.
‘I’ve had two kids mate and went through labour pain.
‘I know that’s difficult for you men and you die when you’ve got the flu [because] you call it man flu!’
I’m A Celeb fans were quick to praise Jacqui’s attitude, with one writing: ‘She is one tough lady.’
