Most people don’t think twice about giving a pregnant woman their seat.
But, TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy discovered it’s not always the case after she came face to face with a man refusing to give up his seat on a bus.
At eight months pregnant, the London based Aussie, was shocked when a commuter in London refused to move his bag from the seat next to him so that she could sit down.
However, instead of getting angry, a heavily pregnant Brydie got even!
‘Well it finally happened in my 8th month of pregnancy,’ she wrote of the incident on her Twitter page.
‘I just sat on a man’s hand and bag when he wouldn’t move them off the last spare seat on the bus. We’re now sharing a very quiet ride.’
What’s more, her epic response to the man’s behaviour has gone viral. Brydie’s tweet has attracted more than 170,000 likes.
And, expectant mums everywhere have come forward with their own public transport nightmares.
One user wrote: ‘When I was about 4 months pregnant I asked a man if I could have his seat on the train and I felt really sick as I was pregnant.
‘He said ‘well, you want equality, you can stand’ I threw up on him. And his newspaper. And his laptop bag. The look of shock on his face was gratifying.’
While another user had a terrible brush in with a commuter. ‘When I was heavily pregnant 17 years ago a man actually pushed me out of the way to get a seat on the Tube in London. The Big Smoke is brutal.’
