Both beautiful stories, like these pups helping the victims, and sad stories, such as this mother who died protecting her son, have come out of the Orlando shooting massacre. But new details of that terrible tragedy have emerged, and they’re some of the most disturbing yet. Police have confirmed that the shooter, Omar Mateen, was texting his wife during the siege and she responded with ‘I love you’.
His wife, Noor Salman, received a text from him two hours after the attack began on June 12. He asked her if she’d heard about the shooting on the news. Portions of the conversation over text have been released by CBS News, including Salman texting her ex: “I love you.” She also tried to call him several times
Reports have claimed Salman knew of his plans before he carried out the attack, and if this is true she will be held accountable. An FBI source told Fox News that she could ultimately be charged with 49 counts of murder and 53 counts of attempted murder for her role in the shooting. The FBI have declared her role is both a terrorist attack and a hate crime.
Police continue to investigate.
