She drank four litres of soft drink a day, stuffed herself on lollies and felt tired and unhappy all the time.
But it was only as she was cooking dinner for her young son that Karyle realised she was a poor role model to her children.

Having ballooned to 120 kilos after the birth of her two children, the 36-year-old mum took nine months shedding 60 kilos. She started by changing her diet and walking for an hour every day and once she’d lost 20 kilos she started going to the gym. With the help of a personal trainer she lost another 40 kilos over the next six months.

‘I have now learnt to put myself first,’ she says. ‘I make sure I get my exercise in, I hang around like-minded people and I teach my children about healthy food.’

With daughter Amber aged seven and son Logan aged three, Karlye says to lose the weight she had to acknowledge the things in her life and past that were making her unhappy.
