Kirsten Bosly, the Aussie mum behind the 1MotherBlogger site, has gone viral this week after posting a powerful message to her followers.
The Perth-based mum-of-two took to her Facebook page to share a message about body image, and mother’s across the world couldn’t help but relate.
Bosly wrote: ‘Today marks a new beginning for me. For most of my life I have hated my body. Despised it. Loathed it. Resented it.
‘I’ve used it and abused it. I’ve blamed it for a lot of things.
‘I’ve been terribly ashamed of its wobbles and dimples; like somehow they are the measure of who I am.’
Bosly continues by making a revelation that struck a chord with parents everywhere.
‘I recently read a meme that said something along the lines of ‘be in pictures with your kids because when you’re gone, the pictures will be all they have left’ and it struck a nerve.
‘I’ve avoided pictures most of the time as I disliked how I looked in them. Not any more!’
‘Bugger that noise!’ Bosly asserts to her followers.
‘The truth is, I’m tired of being ashamed of my body; it’s done nothing but support me for 41 years.
‘I look at this photo and all I can see is how happy we are and that’s awesome.’
We agree – Bosly looks happy, confident and stunning, and she’s given her kids a beautiful photo to cherish forever.
Her followers couldn’t help but thank Kirsten, with social media users from around the world flooding the post with appreciation.
‘Thank you from Texas USA, you just hit a home run with me,’ one mum wrote.
Another added, ‘Just simply – thank you!’
One appreciative commenter wrote, ‘I really needed this.’
We applaud Kirsten on her honest stance and have a feeling that other mums around the world will too.
