Having triplets was surprising enough for new mum Becki-Jo Allen.
But discovering her three little bubs, Rocco, Rohan and Roman, are identical triplets proved a double shock.
With the odds of conceiving identical triplets at 200 million to one, Becki-Jo says she became suspicious after friends pointed out that the boys were so similar.
The mum, who also has a three-year-old daughter, Indiana, sent DNA samples to be tested and was blown away to learn that the boys were identical, a result of the fertilised egg splitting twice.
Born by caesarean at 31 weeks, the boys may be identical but their mum says she has always been able to tell them apart.
“They’ve all got dark birthmarks between their eyebrows, but Roman’s is slightly darker than the others’, and Rohan has got a birthmark on his leg as well,” she says.
Now that the boys are 10 months old she says their different personalities are also emerging.
“Rohan is the loud one, he’s always shouting. Rocco is normally quite laid-back but he can be feisty too, while Roman is usually complaining that he doesn’t want to share.”
The boys’ father doesn’t live with Becki-Jo but she says she gets help from her sister.
