A school has been accused of “body shaming” a nine-year-old girl because she was suspended for wearing close-fitting T-shirts and leggings.
Robbie Nettles took to Facebook to slam his niece’s school after she was given an in-school suspension for wearing clothes that broke the dress code.
Under pictures of his niece he wrote: ‘Does my niece’s round belly offend you?’
‘My niece my not be the ideal weight, but she was not showing anything inappropriate.’
Robbie, from the US, continued: ‘It sickens me to imagine my sweet niece going to a school that cares more about her weight than what’s in her mind.’
The school’s handbook states: ‘All tops must be size appropriate and should neither be overly baggy not overly tight.’
