Officials from Walt Disney World Resort confirm they are installing new warning signs and temporary barriers on beach locations at the resort following a tragic alligator incident that left Lane Graves, only two years old, dead. The young boy was taken by a gator at the Seven Seas Lagoon near the Grand Floridian Resort on Tuesday.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Disney said: “We are installing signage and temporary barriers at our resort beach locations and are working on permanent, long-term solutions at our beaches. We continue to evaluate processes and procedures for our entire property, and, as part of this, we are reinforcing training with our cast for reporting sightings and interactions with wildlife and are expanding our communication to guests on this topic.”
The new signs are a glaring difference to the old signs. The display in red, white and black, features a picture of an alligator and snake, reading: “DANGER. ALLIGATORS AND SNAKES IN AREA. STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER. DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE.”
Previous signs did not contain a warning, and simply read: “No Swimming Allowed, Thank You.”
The family has spoken about their untold grief in a statement released yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s office has released Lane’s body back to the family:”Arrangements are underway to bring him home to Nebraska.”
