Shock jock Kyle Sandilands – who recently fat-shamed – co-host Jackie O – insists that he isn’t concerned about his health amid growing fears from friends and colleagues for his well-being, with the star claiming that despite his potentially dangerous weight problem and high blood pressure, he is totally ‘fine’.
The radio DJ – who has flaunted his body in a wetsuit and while on holiday in Ibiza – was responding to concerns from his radio show psychic Georgina Walker, who yesterday left the studio after Kyle berated her with foul four-letter words when she declined to predict his age of death.
‘Maybe you should start listening to her when she says you need to get looked at,’ his freaked out co-host Jackie O told Kyle, ‘because she does say that to you a lot’.
‘I’m fine,’ snapped an ill-tempered Kyle. ‘I’ve got high blood pressure, that’s it. Everyone wants me to be on death’s door, I’m not. Guess what? I’m not on death’s door!’
Doctors agree that obesity is closely linked to high blood pressure (also known as hypertension), type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease. High blood pressure is a chronic health condition linked to damage to the heart and coronary arteries, heart attack, heart disease and congestive heart failure.
Despite his apparently cavalier attitude towards his own health, Kyle has a long history of directing fat-shaming put-downs towards women. He famously found himself in hot water after calling journalist Alison Stephenson a ‘fat slag’ in 2012, and was also slammed after suggesting Aussie comedian Magda Szubanski, whose Polish father fought in WWII, could lose weight if ‘you put her in a concentration camp’.
Not stopping at public identities, Kyle also recently sent out a message to new mums who had recently given birth that ‘thin is better’.
Then of course there was the time he told 2005 Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo she has ‘tuckshop lady arms’ and advised 2006 contestant Jessica Mauboy to ‘lose the jelly belly’…
