It’s been over a year since James Stewart and Jessica Marais split, but the Home and Away actor finally reveals why.
Stuart, 40, recently opened up about why his relationship didn’t work with Love Child actress Marais, how they got together and who made the first move.
‘Our relationship didn’t work out because I think hearts go in different directions eventually,’ Stewart wrote in Sunday Life.
He also thinks their nine-year age gap might have contributed.
Stewart and Marais, 31, who have a daughter Scout together, met during Stewart’s audition for Packed To The Rafters.
‘I went to audition for a part on Packed To The Rafters and asked Jess for her permission to hold her waist and put her against a wall,’ he said.
Their romance began a year later. ‘Jess texted me “Hot Chocolate?” at midnight a year later and it all went from there,’ he reveals.
In May last year a representative for the couple confirmed their split in a statement, saying: ‘Jessica Marais and James Stewart have amicably separated.
‘Their main focus at this time is the co-parenting of their daughter and they ask that media respect their privacy.’
