Having top tier talent appear on high rating TV shows costs a pretty penny!
With the news of Katy Perry’s American Idol pay cheque coming in at US$25 million for one season, it definitely pays to be a successful celebrity.
Back home, TV work, while less lucrative, is still pretty impressive.
Our very own Delta Goodrem is said to earn $2 million per season after negotiating her previous pay package of $800,000.
Delta’s $2 million pales in comparison compared to Kylie Minogue’s reported $7 million for her season of The Voice in 2014.
As Katy Perry’s huge fee proves, the money is stateside. Mariah Carey was offered $18 million for her American Idol season in 2013. Miley Cyrus was reportedly offered US$13 million for her season on the same show.
The real winner however is Simon Cowell, who makes close to US$100 million for his role on The X Factor – which is due to him owning the show!
