Ben Affleck had been a notorious boozer for years, so Hollywood insiders always wondered why he chose now for his short stint in rehab. And US OK! magazine today claims to have the answer – his wife Jennifer Garner unexpectedly fell pregnant, with doctors telling the couple it’s twins!
Their 11-year-old daughter Violet appears to be aware of the news and is taking her big-sister role very seriously, even being spotted in LA on March 9 carrying a well-thumbed copy of pregnancy bible ‘Raising Twins’.
A source tells the magazine, ‘Word is it was a real moment of reckoning for Ben. He confessed to Jen then and there that he was secretly struggling with his drinking, and he was desperate to kick it once and for all.’
Friends say this is when Jen, who left him in 2015, encouraged him to enter rehab.
Ben, 44, is believed to have moved back into their marital home in LA’s leafy Pacific Palisades, and has been playing doting daddy ever since, as the family prepares for two new arrivals.
‘Ben’s probably just as shocked as everyone else. But Samuel, their third child, wasn’t planned, so it’s nothing Ben and Jen can’t handle,’ says the magazine’s source. ‘It feels like a chance for a new beginning for them.’
