Sweet, gorgeous and genuine – these are the three words that come to mind when you think of this year’s Bachelor contestant, Emily Diben.
But despite winning over Australia’s heart, she didn’t receive a rose in tonight’s ceremony.
Heartbroken, but ready to move on and find love once and for all, Emily sat down with New Idea to chat about how it felt to wait SO long for a single date, life after the show and whether she would date the Honey Badger again if things don’t work out with the winner!
New Idea: Did you have a feeling you were going to be eliminated tonight?
Emily: I had a feeling it was my time. I wasn’t too blindsided but I was sad to go.
New Idea: There’s rumours that Nick has split with the girl he chooses. Would you ever reconnect with him if this was the case?
Emily: No way! I gave 100 per cent on that show and if that wasn’t enough and he wasn’t feeling it then, then I don’t think he will feel it later. I am real with how I feel and how he felt and I am totally ok with it.
New Idea: It was clear that you were holding out for a single date, and Nick definitely kept you waiting. Was it difficult waiting around and seeing all the other girls go on second dates?
Emily: I was so excited to finally get a single date and you’re right, I waited a really long time for it. There were times when I felt like he was shutting down and he was only giving me one-word answers and you can see that on the show. I found it a bit difficult and you could see that at the end of the one on one time, it got a bit awkward. But I stuck it out because we both felt a connection and we shared a really nice kiss.
New Idea: Why do you think it was awkward?
Emily: I didn’t realise this while I was in the house but he had developed really strong connections with some of the other girls and it was pretty obvious that I was playing catchup because I scored a date so late in the game. I was too late to push it to the next level with him which was disappointing because I hung around for so long.
