Taylor Swift has been dismissed as a juror on a rape and kidnap case after the Shake it Off singer revealed she is a victim of sexual assault.
Fellow jurors were left giddy and star-struck when they found themselves seated next to the superstar when they turned up for jury duty in Nashville, but their brush with fame was short lived – the 26-year-old was excused from the case after she told the judge she would struggle to remain impartial as she is currently involved in her own civil sexual assault case in Colorado.
In 2013, the singer alleged radio DJ David Mueller ‘lifted her skirt and groped her’ bottom while posing for a photo backstage at one of her concerts. David later lost his job over the incident and tried to sue Taylor, who is now counter suing.
Claiming she was ‘surprised, upset, offended, and alarmed’ by David’s actions, Taylor has vowed to donate any money she wins from the suit to ‘charitable organisations dedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard’.
