While much attention has been focused on Georgie Gardner in the wake of the Karl Stefanovic scandal, there is another member of the Today Show who has reportedly taken news of Karl’s comments about his co-stars very hard indeed.
According to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph newspaper, the notoriously sensitive Dickie has been the hardest hit member of the cast, and he has been ‘hurt by the sledge’ and ‘was noticeably subdued on this morning’s program.’
The two men were believed to be friendly off screen before the scandal, and now questions have been raised about the future of their bond. .
Yesterday, New Idea exclusively revealed what Karl Stefanovic reportedly said about Richard Wilkins and Nine bosses during a car trip conversation in Sydney.
Speaking to New Idea in his only interview, the driver who overheard a fiery 45-minute conversation between Karl and his brother Peter has shared his story.
Despite recent widespread reports claiming the driver recorded the TV brothers’ bombshell conversation, he has vehemently denied this saying: ‘I don’t have a dash-cam … I don’t even know how to record something on my phone.’
An ‘angry’ Karl apparently accused Richard Wilkins of keeping him from big entertainment stories and slammed Nine bosses for being ‘out of touch.’
‘It was Pete and his wife Sylvie who jumped into my cab late one night,’ says the driver in an exclusive interview with New Idea. ‘He called Karl and told him straight away he was in a cab and that he was on speaker phone so they were all aware I was there and could hear everything.
‘Karl moaned that Dickie (Wilkins) kept all the entertainment contacts close to his chest and doesn’t share anything,’ the driver continued.
So far Richard Wilkins has remained tight lipped about the embarrassing scandal – at least publicly.
