Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher’s Alcoholic Anonymous sponsor has exclusively revealed to New Idea that the star told him she was having a ‘difficult time’ battling her addiction issues and admitted she had relapsed taking prescription drugs just weeks before her death.
The movie legend – who won legions of fans as Princess Leia in the iconic saga – died on December 27, after suffering a massive heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles. According to reports, she never regained consciousness after being hospitalised on December 23.
Carrie’s long-time friend, Clancy Imislund, 88, received a tragic, final voicemail from the 60-year-old star over the Thanksgiving holiday in the US – November 24 – telling him she was struggling to cope.
‘I heard she relapsed over Thanksgiving, I was quite saddened by it,’ he tells New Idea in an exclusive interview.
