A week doesn’t go by when widow Bev Brock isn’t sifting through 28 years of cherished memories of the love of her life.
Although their relationship dissolved a year before his death in 2006 – Peter ended up in the arms of Bev’s former friend Julie Bamford – Bev’s devotion endures. ‘Peter was a remarkable man, and I’m a firm believer that love is not about possession,’ says Bev, 69, who has two children with Peter – Robert, now 36, and Alexandra, 34 – and a third, James, 40, from a previous marriage.
‘In the world we lived in, it’s very rare to have 28 amazing years together. Sure I was sad, and sure I would have liked to see us into our dotage together, but life hands you some unexpected curveballs and you’ve just got to learn to cope with them.’
As the nation today pays homage to the man nicknamed ‘Peter Perfect’ on the 10th anniversary of his death, it’s obviously been harder for Bev than many.
