Queen Elizabeth II has landed her second Vanity Fair cover in celebration of her milestone 90th birthday.
The image was taken by Annie Leibovitz, one of the world’s most sought-after photographers, and shows the Queen seated with her four beloved corgis and dorgis (a corgi-dachshund mix).
Subsequent photos from inside the feature show the monarch sitting by a cosy fire with her husband of almost 69 years, Prince Philip, who, she says, ‘has been my strength and stay all these years’, while another shows her standing stoically outside, dressed in a regal black cape-like jacket, set against a dark and brooding skyline.
Just last month, images were released of the Queen walking the dogs in the gardens of Windsor Castle, as well as posing with family members including her great-grandchildren Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The photographer told Vanity Fair: ‘The most moving, important thing about this shoot is that these were all her ideas.
‘She wanted to be photographed with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh; her daughter, Anne, the Princess Royal; and her corgis.’
Several more images are expected to appear in the latest edition of Vanity Fair when it goes on sale on Friday.
