They delighted audiences across the world as they played on-screen father and daughter for more than 14 years.
Now, Neighbours’ stars Dr Karl and Libby Kennedy have reunited in real life.
Australian actors Kym Valentine and Alan Fletcher shared a hug as they attended the opening night of ‘Unsolicited Male’ at Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne, which Kym, 41, stars in.
The theatre show explores the dynamics of power in the workplace.
Kym has previously spoken about how ‘bullying and sexual harassment’ in the workplace is something most women and men have experienced.
‘It is something that I have experienced and it took a great toll on my mental health so I had to take a little bit of time to recover, but this is an opportunity to help women and men not to be afraid to speak out if they experience harassment of any sort in or out of the workplace,’ Kym said, according to the Herald Sun.
‘When I experienced it a long time ago, I did not feel safe to share what had happened to me, so hopefully projects like this, and just general conversation, will help other people feel safe to speak out and it might help to stop potential predators from acting out in the first place, because they know they will get called out.’
In 2013, Kym memorably settled a legal claim against the company that produced the long-running soap.
She had been suing Fremantle Media for lost wages, claiming she had been subject to discrimination.
The case was settled out of court.
Kym appeared in more than 1000 episodes of Neighbours and following her departure from the hit show revealed that she still called her on-screen father ‘Dad’.
‘Once a Kennedy always a Kennedy,’ she has shared on Twitter.
Alan, meanwhile, has played Dr Karl for 24 years and has previously refused to rule out staying on the show for another two decades.
‘It’s incredible. It makes me feel wonderful,’ the 61-year-old actor told the Sun earlier this year.
‘To have a full-time job for that amount of time in a really enjoyable acting role is as rare as hens’ teeth.’
