Like many besotted young couples caught up in a fairytale romance, Michael Cox and Taylor Anderton can’t wait to tie the knot and have babies.
‘We want to have four kids, we’ve already chosen the names,’ smiles 25-year-old Michael.
But the very notion fills their parents with dread. ‘It makes me feel very worried, apprehensive and concerned,’ Taylor’s mum Catherine Musk admits.
Catherine doesn’t disapprove of her 21-year-old daughter’s chosen beau. But as both Taylor and Michael have Down syndrome, their parents fear they would be left to pick up the pieces if things don’t work out as their children hope.
It’s a feeling Roseanne Stuart – mother of Brisbane model Madeline, who also has Down syndrome – is all too familiar with. Roseanne, a friend of Taylor, Michael and their families, says she harbours similar concerns for Madeline.
‘It is all good and well having a dream to do something, but reality can be a very different story,’ Roseanne tells New Idea.
