Kaitlyn moved from Melbourne to Darwin in year nine to finish her highschool studies. The bubbly 20-year-old prides herself on creative problem-solving and ability to think outside the box. Kaitlyn inspires to have a design job in the toy or automotive industries – maybe even with LEGO.
Kaitlyn’s love for model making began with DUPLO which eventually transitioned to a passion for LEGO. As a teen, the 28-year-old drifted from her hobby however rekindled with LEGO for a project during her first year of university.
Kaitlyn estimates her LEGO collection to contain around 10,000 bricks, her favourite one would be “the red 2x 4 brick” she refers to the brick as the “classic LEGO piece” – red being her favourite colour.
She has been known to complete small polybag LEGO sets without even opening the bag and can assemble the LEGO creation inside without taking the pieces out.
Outside her passion for LEGO, Kaitlyn was a former swimming competitor, her other hobbies include basketball and art.
Marielle, from Sydney, has a very bold approach in her LEGO building style. Her vibrant designs are strongly influenced by colour. She considers building LEGO a therapeutic process.
The creative LEGO lover owns around 10,000 LEGO pieces across her various set collections and finds time to indulge her creativity in many forms outside work, including not only LEGO but candle making, painting, calligraphy and cooking.
She also enjoys painting, outdoor adventures such as camping and hiking, rock climbing with her partner, and together they build projects for friends and family.
As a perfectionist, some of Marielle’s strengths would include having great attention to detail, organisation and planning skills. However her perfectionist trait may also lead to her downfall as she can be both impulsive and indecisive at times.
This talented duo have their eye on the ultimate LEGO MASTERS Australia prize.
