Kylie’s fiance Joshua Sasse: Why I’m calling off the wedding

Find out why Kylie won’t get her happily ever after

Kylie Minogue’s husband-to-be, Joshua Sasse is making waves this week promoting his international ‘Say I do Down Under’ campaign for same sex marriage to be made legal in Australia.

Amidst promoting the campaign Joshua, 28, shocked everyone revealing he will not be marrying Kylie, 48, until same sex marriage is passed in Australia.

‘I sat down with Kylie and said, I don’t see how we can be planning a wedding when we are planning a campaign about equality and other people can’t get married and I just said it is not fair. We are no different from anybody else.’

Our very own Kylie has previously been forthcoming with her thoughts on how backward Australia is on the issue of same-sex marriage, when other countries have legalised it, believing that ‘love is love’.

The idea for the campaign came when Joshua, who stars in TV show Galavant, was in Australia, holidaying with a few friends who were gay. It was then to his horror, the British actor discovered same sex marriage wasn’t recognized in Australia.

‘I just couldn’t fathom it,’ he said. ‘I read a lot of news and every morning I would pick the things I wanted to read to Kylie over breakfast and I read this thing and literally did a double take,’ he explained. ‘We are planning to get married and I’m very principled and really stand by my beliefs and if someone told me that I couldn’t get married, it doesn’t matter why, I would kick their f***ing door down, and that was where this started.’

After launching the campaign last weekend on Instagram, stars like Margot Robbie, Dolly Parton, Kelly Ripa and Sia have gotten behind the cause, all sporting the ‘Say I Do Downunder’ t-shirts.

T-shirts are being printed in Melbourne, Sydney, London, Vancouver, Los Angeles and New York with Sasse and Minogue funding the project.
