Another tough blow for the Today host.

Despite saying he has ‘years left on my contract,’ Karl has admitted he’s had enough of the public scrutiny surrounding his private life and, with his new Nine contract yet to be finalised, the high-profile presenter is thinking about a drastic measure.

Last week, the television host has opened up publicly about the breakdown of his marriage to ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn in a tell-all radio interview with Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O.

The Today host said, ‘It’s hard. I think for some out there, what happened is here was a guy a couple of years ago who was married with three kids.’

He added, ‘I think this happens to people, and I’m sorry for any hurt that it caused and causes. But this happened to me…and I fell in love not long after that.

‘At the end of the day, it is what it is and I’m sorry if that causes anyone hurt. But I won’t be apologising to my nearest and dearest because I don’t need to.’

Earlier this year, Cassandra broke her silence on her ex-husband’s engagement to Jasmine.

‘His engagement doesn’t register with me on any level,’ she told Fairfax Media.

‘I am just focused on helping those affected by the ever-changing landscape of my ex-husband’s life, to navigate it.’

The 43-year-old television personality also opened up for the first time about the now infamous Ubergate scandal

The incident, which saw Karl and his younger brother Pete Stefanovic overheard ctiticising Today co-hosts Georgie Gardner and Richard Wilkins, as well as network bosses, caused friction at Channel Nine.

Stefanovic told the Kyle and Jackie O Show, ‘Channel Nine weren’t happy, and upstairs weren’t happy, and that’s fair enough.’

‘Whatever comes out of my mouth, I’m responsible for, and if that brings the company into disrepute or whatever, that’s on me. I accept full responsibility,’ he added.

At the time of the scandal, New Idea exclusively revealed exactly what was said in the cab ride that shocked Australia.

Speaking to New Idea in his only interview, the driver who overheard the fiery 45-minute conversation between Karl Stefanovic and his brother Peter shared his story – exposing what Karl really thinks of his co-host Georgie Gardner.

Despit widespread reports claiming the driver recorded the brothers’ bombshell conversation, he vehemently denied this, saying: ‘I don’t have a dash cam…I don’t even know how to record something on my phone.’

In the shocking call, Karl slammed his colleagues, other network shows and even his bosses. As well as claiming that Georgie needs to ‘step up’, an ‘angry’ Karl also accused Dickie of keeping him from big entertainment stories and slammed Nine bosses for being ‘out of touch’.
