Julia Roberts has been left in shock following a devastating diagnosis – she’s going blind! The actress and devoted mother-of-three has reportedly been left reeling after being informed that her fading eyesight could be permanent.
The 48-year-old star has been clinically blind in one eye since birth, but sadly the vision in her other eye has been declining to the point where she shouldn’t be allowed to drive a car anymore.
‘Julia’s biggest fear is that she will lose her eyesight,’ a friend of the actress tells. ‘Of course, her worst nightmare would be if she were unable to see her kids. They are her heart and soul, her entire universe and reason for living.’
Although the star has been putting on a brave front while promoting her new movie Money Monster with co-star George Clooney at the Cannes International Film Festival in France, behind the scenes it’s a very different story.
In addition to her failing eyesight – which has meant she is having to heavily rely on the support of her cinematographer husband of 13 years, Danny Moder, 47 – Julia is also believed to be suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, as well as chronic head and neck pain stemming from bout of spinal meningitis she contracted in the 1980s.
