Things have gone from bad to worse for Jim Carrey, who has been slapped with his second wrongful death lawsuit since the passing of his ex girlfriend Cathriona White last year.
One month after Cathriona’s estranged husband Mark Burton filed a lawsuit against the comedian, her mother is now also suing the star, with both claiming he played a hand in her death by supplying her with the drugs she used to commit suicide. She even goes so far as to call the movie star ‘pure evil’.
Claiming the actor should be ‘ashamed’ of himself for giving Cathriona the drugs, Bridget Sweetman also alleges Jim infected her daughter with multiple STDs while they were dating.
‘As a family, we want the world to know the truth about who Jim Carrey really is – a man that will give your daughter three STDs, lie about it, call her terrible names and demean her, use his high priced lawyers to try and shut her and her family up, and then give her illegal drugs,’ Ms Sweetman said in the court papers.
Having previously slammed Cathriona’s hubsand’s lawsuit, saying it a ‘transparent shakedown’, Jim has also fired back at her mum.
‘It is understandable that a mother who has lost a daughter will look for someone to blame,’ says the actor’s lawyer. ‘But in directing her grief and rage at Jim Carrey and joining this… attempt to capitalise on Cathriona’s suicide, Mrs.Sweetman is heading down the same dark path as … Mark Burton.’
