Three years after Gwyneth Paltrow was labeled the most hated celebrity by a magazine, the Goop founder wants to know why.
‘I’m the most hated celebrity? More than, like, Chris Brown?’ she asked the BBC’s Stephen Sackur during a sit-down interview at the Cannes Lions advertising festival.
Chris Brown, 27, was convicted of assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
When Sackur suggested that she makes people “feel bad sometimes,” she says she’s just being herself.
‘All I can do is be my authentic self, and if you know me, then you know who I am, and that I have fun and eat and am so appreciative for my life,” Paltrow said.
‘But I think there are things about me that make people draw conclusions.’
Paltrow says she realises her upbringing might inspire “resentment’, insists she hasn’t had any handouts.
‘My parents [director Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner] did well, and I was able to go to a fantastic school, and we grew up in New York City, but the minute I left my college to try to pursue acting, my father was really supportive. But he said, you know, ‘You are completely on your own.’
