Australian professional dancer Sasha Farber has pulled out all the stops to ensure his marriage proposal is one to be remembered.
The Russian-born Aussie star, who previously appeared on our local version of Dancing With The Stars before taking up residence on the US series, dropped to one knee during Tuesday night’s live show to declare his undying love for fellow DWTS pro Emma Slater.
The pair kicked off the results show episode by taking to the dance floor together to perform a beautiful contemporary number to the throes of Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are – before Sasha shocked his lady love by pulling out a ring!
‘Babe, I wanted to do this for such a long, long time,’ the 33-year-old declared. ‘I love you so much. Will you marry me?’
The 27-year-old Brit wasted no time in saying yes, before the couple embraced in front of a roaring live audience and were congratulated by their fellow dancers and contestants.
Host Tom Bergeron told viewers watching at home: ‘Sasha just proposed to Emma and thankfully she said yes, because we didn’t have graphics for the other option!’
People reports that Sasha proposed to his girlfriend of more than five years with a pink sapphire – the same colour as Emma’s mum’s ring.
The beaming bride-to-be said of the surprise proposal: ‘We’ve been together five-and-a-half years. We bought a house recently and it feels like the natural progression.
‘My mother said once that marriage should feel natural and not like a surprise – it should be expected, because that’s when it’s right, and it’s already felt like I’ve been his fiancé and wife for years now. It feels really natural… apart from the heaviness of my arm, it feels quite natural!’
Little more than a week earlier, on September 26, Emma revealed she was keen for a engagement to happen sooner than later.
‘I feel like it’s soon. I’ve been hinting pretty heavily,’ she laughed.
