Since that powerful moment in Australian TV history, Bickmore’s charity ‘Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer’, has raised an impressive 11.5 million.

“I am so incredibly chuffed to have been awarded an Order of Australia medal today,” Carrie wrote on her social media post.

“When I did my Logies speech in 2015 I simply wanted to raise awareness about brain cancer and how devastating it is, I never imagined 4 years later our little foundation @carriesb4bc would have raised nearly 11.5 million dollars.”

“I feel so lucky to live in Australia and in awe of all the people who have been advocating in this space for a lot longer than I have.”

Carrie then makes an emotional nod to her late husband Greg Lange – who died after a ten-year battle with brain cancer.

“This award reminds me of the beautiful people like Greg who we have lost and encourages me to keep pushing to find a cure. Thanks for all the lovely messages. ❤️Carrie Bickmore OAM.”
