Ever since their romantic engagement in July, Bindi Irwin and fiancé Chandler Powell have been busy making plans for their perfect big day, set to take place at her family’s Australia Zoo in 2020.

But it seems a disaster threatening Bindi’s family legacy could throw a spanner in the works, with the 21-year-old wildlife conservationist forced to put the wedding aside to focus on fires encroaching on their land.
“We are fighting a fire that is approaching our Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve that was lit by an arsonist nearby,” Bindi posted on Instagram alongside a photo showing the devastation taking place.
But while the emergency could force the young lovers to put plans for their nuptials on hold, there’s no doubt Chandler, 22, will be right beside his bride-to-be on her quest to protect native wildlife and land. “As a family, we protect nearly half a million acres of conservation property across Australia,” says Bindi, “and do our absolute best to protect the wildlife and wild places that call this pristine land home.”
