They were one of Hollywood’s most endearing couples, and even after their divorce they remain close.
Chris Pratt, 40, and Anna Faris, 42, were married for eight years before announcing their separation in 2017.
The actor and actress had met on the set of Take Me Home Tonight in 2007 and were engaged a year later.
Pratt, who hails from Virginia, Minnesota, first rose to prominence as the listless but lovable Andy in the sitcom Parks and Recreation.
But after his turn as the music-loving Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy he became a bankable Hollywood leading man.
The next year he starred in Jurassic World, the reboot of another massive franchise.
He’s also the voice of Emmet in the wildly popular Lego Movie and its sequel.
Anna Faris is a multi-talented actress, producer and author. She made her breakthrough in the Scary Movie films in which she cemented herself as a comedic actress. She has also given her voice to animation franchises including Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Alvin and the Chipmunks – and was Monica and Chandler’s surrogate in Season 10 of the sitcom Friends.
After meeting on the set of Take Me Home Tonight, in which they play love interests, Chris and Anna began to develop feelings for each other, but because Anna was married to actor Ben Indra, nothing eventuated.
That is, until Anna and Ben broke up.
“The day that she told me she was leaving her husband, I knew that I was going to marry her,” said Pratt.
They dated and got engaged in 2008. After attending a friend’s wedding the couple eloped, marrying on July 9, 2009, in Bali.
In 2012, the couple had a baby boy, Jack, who arrived nine weeks premature and weighed under 2kg. He’s now an adorable 7 year old.
During their marriage, there were tabloid reports of a “strain” in their relationship and that Chris had not been faithful.
“I take pride in how great my relationship is with Chris,” Anna said on her own podcast. “But having said that, of course, in this crazy world where he’s off doing movies and I’m in LA, raising our child, of course I’m going to feel vulnerable, like any normal human would.”
On August 6, 2017, the pair announced their separation.
“Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating,” they said in a joint statement.
“We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”
In November 2018, they settled their divorce with a unique living arrangement: they would remain close – in terms of distance. The exes agreed to live no further than five miles (8km) apart until Jack finishes sixth grade.
On June 8, 2019, Pratt married author Katherine Schwarzenegger, 29, the oldest child of actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver.
Meanwhile, for two years Anna has been dating award-winning cinematographer Michael Barrett.
Of Chris and Katherine’s engagement, Anna posted on Instagram: “I’m so happy for you both!! Congratulations!”
