The 56-year-old is one of 50 wealthy parents who were exposed in the university admissions scandal last month.

As for her husband, actor William H. Macy, he hasn’t been charged, and police have not revealed why.

“My daughter knew absolutely nothing about my actions, and in my misguided and profoundly wrong way, I have betrayed her,” she added.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors agreed to recommend a prison term at the “low end” of the four to 10 months Ms Huffman faces under federal sentencing guidelines.
