Despite being divorced for 23 years, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have always given the impression that – behind closed doors, at least – they’re still very much together.

Ever since Sarah took her first tentative step back into royal life when she attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last year, her presence at family events has increased.
Now a source tells New Idea the couple are pulling out all the stops to make things official.
“Andrew is doing everything he can to bring Fergie back into the royal fold,” says a palace source. “She was at the preview of Trooping the Colour and Gabriella Windsor’s wedding, but he’s just not allowed to bring her to official events until they are officially married again.”
Even so, the Duke and Duchess of York have taken increasingly bold steps to show the world they are together, most notably when they stood side by side in family photos for the first time at daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding last October.
Earlier this year, the couple proved they were more than just close friend’s when the couple and their daughters holidayed together and were spotted at the Bahrain Grand Prix. At Lady Gabriella Windsor’s wedding last month, Sarah arrived at St George’s Chapel with Princess Beatrice and her boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and then took her place alongside Prince Edward in the wedding party.

But it was a family photo on social media, taken at rehearsals for the Trooping the Colour parade, posted on both Sarah and Princess Eugenie’s Instagram accounts, which seemed to announce to the world that the Sarah and her ex-husband are happily back together.
Comments from royal fans made it clear everyone is hoping for a wedding announcement as soon as possible. “Just re-marry and make us all happy,” one follower posted on Sarah’s account, while another, on Eugenie’s, remarked, “they’re true soulmates”.
It appears the couple are in agreement. “Andrew is fast-tracking their wedding plans. They have already had their private ceremony in Mexico over Christmas and there’s been no shortage of celebrations among Andrew, Fergie and their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, toasting their renewed love,” says the source.
“Andrew wants their marriage official and he’s really hoping they’ll be able to marry later this year … they’re planning to officially remarry on Fergie’s 60th birthday [in October] and there is a lot of behind-the-scenes planning going on.”

It appears their family couldn’t be happier. Recently the two princesses were seen out with Edoardo, looking clearly delighted about the news.“Last week Bea and Eugenie were out celebrating the news, planning the big day – everyone is really looking forward to it,” said the source.
According to reports, Sarah and Andrew’s rekindled relationship has even been welcomed by the rest of the royal family who, in the past, have been privately critical of the Duchess of York and her much-publicised and often embarrassing gaffes and financial problems.
“Andrew and Fergie have been very happy to keep their new romance in the background for some time now, but with Fergie having to stay home for more and more official functions, it’s very upsetting for both of them. Hopefully their official wedding will change all of that,” the source explained.
It seems there could also be another royal engagement on the cards as Beatrice and Edoardo have become open about their relationship. Now with friends telling The Daily Mail the couple are “blissfully happy” together, royal watchers are expecting an engagement announcement soon.
