The royal fan took to Instagram to announce the news with a post reading: “A lovely birthday reply from HRH The Duke of Cambridge. My first reply from the duchess for her birthday, I have received in a couple of years.”
The message said: “The Duchess of Cambridge thanks you for taking the trouble to write on the occasion of her 38th birthday.
“Your thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated by Her Royal Highness who sends her warmest thanks and best wishes.”
Fans were quick to praise the mother of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis for her thoughtful words.
One wrote: “What a lovely photo of Catherine! I don’t think I have ever sent her a birthday card. I wish I had this year.”
Another added: “So beautiful.”
The news comes days after fans expressed their concern over Kate after she looked “tired and sad” during a recent royal reception.
Middleton hosted an event alongside her husband at Buckingham Palace for world leaders from Africa, where eagle-eyed fans say she looked down.

A video of Kate shows her greeting a leader smiling, but her smile quickly turned to a look of sadness, which has royal watchers concerned.
One royal supporter wrote: “Something deeply troubling Kate Middleton and I’d love to know what it is.
Another added: “The media is too focussed on Meghan Markle to notice Kate is struggling.
A third one chimed in: “Imagine if a camera caught Meghan Markle giving that look to someone.”
