This is how long it takes to iron the Queen’s bed sheets

The royal family receives lavish care!

The Queen has opened up her world with the brand new documentary Queen of the World, which has allowed us commoners to gain an intimate look insider her sanctum and witness the way her family works and interacts.

In the first part of the two-part documentary, it was revealed that there is a very interesting process behind making the royals feel at home when they visit Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Canada. Master of the Household Christine Macintyre revealed that it was her responsibility to oversee every single detail of a royal visit to the residence and gave an insight in how they make Her Majesty feel comfortable.

Ms Macintyre explained in the documentary that each member of the Royal Family receives their own special set of sheets at Rideau Hall to make it feel as if they were sleeping in their own beds back at home.

“After a long day of traveling, there is nothing better than going into a bed that doesn’t feel like a hotel bed,” explained Ms Macintyre.

“And that is what you are trying to do – is to make it feel like they are in their own bed.”

In order to do this, the sheets must first go through a long process with maids in the Canadian Royal residence spending over an hour on a single sheet of linen to ensure that it is perfect, with Ms Macintyre saying, “It takes over an hour to iron one sheet.”

The sheets used are also put aside specifically for the royal family and are not to be used for anyone else.
