Meghan and Harry SNUB Camilla’s birthday bash for Charles

The royal couple will not be attending Charles' 70th birthday bash.

On October 25th, a “very special” dinner and concert will be held at Buckingham Palace in honour of Prince Charles‘ 70th birthday. The event is being planned and hosted by the Prince’s wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. However, two very important guests will not be in attendance.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to be part way through their overseas royal tour when the birthday event is set to take place. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will be travelling to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonja in a tour that has been timed to coincide with the 2018 Invictus Games

According to Vanity Fair, the clash of events is the reason why Harry and Meghan made their first official royal appearance at a Buckingham Palace garden party in May of this year that was held in honour of Prince Charles’ milestone birthday.

The newlyweds attended the event just two days after their royal wedding at Windsor Castle and even delayed their honeymoon in order to do so.

Vanity Fair reported, “Harry and Meghan can’t be there because they will be overseas. It’s why they were so keen to be at the garden party for Charles back in May.”

Prince Charles’ 70th birthday bash in October is set to happen three weeks before his actual birthday on November 14th, and will feature “music, opera, ballet and Shakespearean drama,” as reported by Vanity Fair‘s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl. The programmed is an acknowledgement to Charles’ passion for the arts.

Although Harry and Meghan will be missing this particular event, it is understood that the Queen will be hosting a party around the actual time of Charles’ birthday in order to celebrate. There is no doubt that Harry and Meghan will set aside time in order to attend this event after reports claimed Charles and his younger son are “closer than ever” after spending some quality time together over the summer in Scotland.

Charles was reportedly thrilled that his son and Meghan had chosen to spend almost a week with him at the Castel of Mey as it also gave him an opportunity to further strengthen the “lovely relationship” he has with his daughter-in-law.

Harry and Meghan are set to fly out to Sydney on October 16 to start off their first tour as a married couple. The tour will see the pair visit nine cities in just fifteen days.

The royals will most notably be in attendance at the Invictus Games which is spearheaded by Prince Harry.
