They may have recently touched down in Australia all safe and sound, yet Prince Harry and Meghan Markle suffered a huge scare when their private party jet was hit by lightning.
The luxury plane was hit by a spell of bad weather when the couple flew from London Oxford to Amsterdam to attend a party at Soho House.
According to reports at least 30 million volts surged into the fuselage after the thunderbolt hit the plane’s nose.
Luckily for the newlyweds, the pair landed safely in Amsterdam with no injuries.
Sources told The Mail that the plane was grounded for nine days in order for the nose to be fixed and safety checks to be made.
A replacement plane was flown out from Stockholm, so the couple could return safely and on schedule.
On Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in Sydney ahead of the Royal Tour and Invictus Games.
A heavy police presence greeted the couple at Sydney Airport, ready to whisk the Royals away to Admiralty House, the Governor-General’s Sydney residence.
The couple also arrived with a 10-person entourage, including security and a hairdresser.
Harry and Meghan will also head to New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
“The programme across these four Commonwealth countries will focus on youth leadership, environmental and conservation efforts, including the dedication of several new Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy projects, and the recovery and rehabilitation of servicemen and women through the Invictus Games Sydney 2018,” the palace said in a short statement when announcing the tour.
The Duke and Duchess will attend 76 engagements across the four countries, including the Invictus Games in Sydney, which runs from October 20-28.
