Princess Eugenie has taken time out of planning her royal wedding to Jack Brooksbank to sit down for a rare interview and spread and important message.
The bride-to-be was featured on podcast Global GoalsCast where she spoke candidly on modern day slavery alongside long-time friend Julie de Boinville. Eugenie shared a story about a trip they took to Calcutta, India in 2013 where they met a women who founded the Women’s Interlink Foundation – a foundation that works to get trafficked females off the street and teach them skills such as creating clothing or designing fabric.
“Jules and I, that was the first time we ever really saw what modern slavery was and human trafficking and what really that is in the modern age, ” Eugenie said.

After realising that slavery was an issue worldwide, the Princess decided to fight against it through the initiative Antislavery Collective and also helped set up the Key to Freedom fashion label with de Boinville. The label has been successfully introduced to stores such as Topshop.

Eugene also shared a story about an inspiring encounter she had with a trafficking victim she met. The young girl had been trafficked by her next door neighbour in Manchester to a gang who did “horrific” things to her.
“And what’s amazing about this story and what has stayed with Jules and I, is that she is the most incredible 21-year-old girl you will ever meet,” Eugenie said.
“She walked in and smiled and told her story with such courage and conviction, and sat there and just said that she wants to fight with us and keep us going.”
